ARM Included in Latest UEFI Specification
“UEFI improves the hardware-software interface by standardizing the boot procedure between the Operating System and a target processor. Specification 2.3 incorporates the necessary modifications required to help enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to standardize the boot procedure on hardware platforms based on the ARM processor.”

Insyde(R) Software Announces Quick-to-Launch Technology to Complement Third-Party Instant-On Solutions
"The demand for instant-on solutions is gaining momentum, but the available technology falls short of obtaining true instant-on computing. We believed faster startup times could be achieved through streamlining the boot process, and our many years of UEFI BIOS experience proved crucial toward accomplishing this goal, "said Barry Doong, Vice President of the Software and Drivers Group at Insyde Software.

Dell PowerEdge R610 server review
"The R610 introduces some completely new server management concepts and we’ll start with the Lifecycle Controller. This is embedded on the motherboard and is, in fact, a 1GB chunk of NVRAM memory. The server can be booted from it by selecting the System Services option in the boot menu, where it loads Dell’s UEFI (unified extensible firmware interface) environment complete with GUI and support for mouse and keyboard."

IBM's New Generation of Intel(R)-based Servers, Software Cuts through Data Center Chaos
“IBM is offering next-generation BIOS -- the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) -- to provide a consistent BIOS across its portfolio and to allow for more detailed remote-configuration options.”

IBM punts two racks, a blade, and a hybrid thingy
"IBM is also keen on making it less frustrating to set up and support its x64 machines too." "For instance, the new machines all support the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI), a superset of the BIOS means of setting up the iron inside a box. UEFI is backwards compatible with BIOSes. But it has a more modern user interface. It can be configured remotely."

IBM releases first information about upcoming x3650 M2 and x3550 M2
“UEFI is the successor to the common BIOS. This will get interesting - i have no real idea what to expect from this. I only know that WS08 supports UEFI boot directly, and that IBM will provide emulation for legacy operating systems. There’s also an in-system USB port for running a Hypervisor directly from flash. The system also features an integrated TPM module, which can be used together with Bitlocker to provide full disk encryption in physically insecure servers.
An important Whitepaper from IBM about Transitioning to UEFI is also available.”

IBM X-Architecture Blueprint 2009: An Overview
"Some of the enhancements UEFI provides over the older BIOS, still used in most competitive servers, includes:
• Human readable event logs — no more beep codes
•Complete setup solution by allowing adapter configuration function to be moved into UEFI
•Complete out-of-band coverage by the Advance Settings Utility to simplify remote setup
•Consistent firmware management across an entire product line"
